Job Responsibilities: the Laboratory Assistant will
Prepare beach water sample medium, bottles etc.
Assist with sample result generation and distribution
Assist with general laboratory duties associated with sanitary microbiology

Qualifications:
An individual who is both reliable and committed
A student attending the University of Rhode Island who has a passion for science and chemistry
with the hope of pursuing a career in the field
Familiarity with basic laboratory skills and safety procedures
Good communication skills
* Specific test familiarity is not necessary, training is available

Job Opportunity: Fisheries Habitat Modeler Needed in Woods Hole, MA

Integrated Statistics is looking for someone to expand on the work of Cetacean and Sound Mapping ( CetMap ) and develop web-based spatially explicit, fine-scale seasonal density/distribution maps of marine mammals and turtles which explicitly incorporate environmental factors (static, satellite derived and model derived). We need to have the user be able to specify a small area and then make a system that produces the predicted density maps and associated numbers for only that small area. The distribution models would be developed with our present seasonal data and survey data collected since 1990.

Requirements/Education:

· Masters degree in mathematics, statistics, fisheries or related field

· Statistical programming, specifically experience in GLM, Generalized Additive Models (GAM), spatial statistics and spatial interpolation methods

· GIS skills, enough to deal with the spatial nature of these types of data.

· Capture-recapture and line transect distance sampling procedures. Compensation : $20-$24/hour + benefits including health, dental, 401K, paid vacation, sick, and holidays
