The 25th Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education (ACIEE) 2022 is now just ONE week away! Register today for this exciting event being held virtually on Nov 2-3, 2022. ***Registration closes at 12:00 pm EDT on Tuesday, November 1st.*** bit.ly/aciee2022reg
Over the last few weeks, we have highlighted several different presentations that feature:

- Ways to transform engineering education for a more sustainable world, advance social justice in language education and foster an interdisciplinary curriculum for engineering students through a focus on the development of purposeful, responsible, and inclusive technologies
- Collaborative online learning initiatives, which are an effective way of offering international educational and research opportunities while removing economic barriers for study abroad
- Highly innovative interdisciplinary approaches by which engineering faculty have forged alliances with other disciplines to promote equity, inclusion, critical thinking and social justice into the engineering curriculum

Japanese IEP student Kevin Suggs, featured in our first article below, was also recently highlighted on both URI's homepage and the College of Engineering's website. For his story and more on topics such as IEP internships, partnerships, and fellowships, be sure to give our newsletter a read!

During a recent six-week trip to Europe, I was fortunate to reprise the role of international ambassador for our program, meeting with many of our French, German, and Spanish IEP interns, partner universities, and companies throughout my travels.

Monday Montage - from France!

French IEP students Caitlin and Jelani, who are finishing up their internships in France this month, recently met up with this year's group of French IEPers abroad shortly after their arrival. On a day trip to Paris, they explored the city together, giving students Mackenzie, Temi, Sagar, Dan and Sofia the lay of the land and sharing some insider insights from their time in France. The circle of IEP life, que c'est beau! 🥲

Throwback Thursday - Earlier this summer, Coordinator Melissa Schenck was awarded the 2022 URI Staff Excellence Award for her work with the International Engineering Program. While Melissa strives to inspire students to engage in lifelong learning and to step outside of their comfort zones, she says that our students are also a source of inspiration for her to do the same. Congratulations!

Melissa attended the award ceremony in June virtually from Berlin, where she was completing an intensive German summer course this summer. https://www.uri.edu/news/2022/07/uri-faculty-staff-honored-with-2022-excellence-awards/.

Congratulations to on the launching of their brand last week! 👏👏

Some of our current IEPers, including Nicole Mendoza and Temi Aina, and our IEP alum Renee Gordon ('20 GIEP/BME), showed up to participate in this important event. A little on that from Nicole's perspective:

It was a great experience attending the Black and Brown Women in Science Technology Sisterhood (BBWESTS) branding/logo unveiling. The logo encapsulates all women of color and has had the utmost time and consideration put into it to be impactful and representative for all sisters involved.

The founding sisters Melissa Delpech ‘20, Renee Gordon ‘20, Fatima Issa ‘19, Pascaline Uwase ‘20 were all in attendance. Being able to hear them share their stories and see the career paths they have embarked on was inspiring. I am excited for this next semester to see BBWESTS promote the involvement and inclusion of minority groups in the College of Engineering here at URI!
