URI Department of Physical Therapy

URI Department of Physical Therapy The Physical Therapy Program at URI is a fully accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy degree program.

The physical therapy program is a 3-year, entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association's Commission on Accreditation in Education (CAPTE). The Program prepares students for the professional license examination. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, clinical skills and use of evidence-based practice through seven semester

s of study, faculty-guided research projects, and clinical internships. Full-time University faculty, together with adjunct and invited clinical lecturers, provide the curricular instruction.

Yesterday, the URI DPT Class of December 2026 celebrated a major milestone as they received their white coats and presented the research projects they’ve dedicated the past two years to developing.

As they close this chapter of classroom learning, they now step into full-time clinical education.

With a strong foundation behind them, these future clinicians are ready to take the next step in their journey and put their hard work into action 🥼
