ππ Honors in action!
We are proud to share this recognition of our Honors student, Juan, who recently completed an internship with the Bishop Police Department and presented his findings to their team.
Juanβs work is also part of his Honors Independent Project, where he is analyzing real-world policing practices through hands-on experience.
Thank you to the Bishop Police Department for supporting student learning and professional growth. ππ
Today, we had the opportunity to sit down and learn from one of our own.
Our Texas A&M UniversityβKingsville (TAMUK) intern βJuanβ, a Political Science major with aspirations of becoming a prosecutor, delivered a detailed presentation to our team based on his first-hand observations with our department.
Over the past four months, he rode alongside our patrol officers, quietly observing day-to-day operations. As part of his criminal justice coursework under Dr. Plank, he was required to conduct a presentation analyzing real-world policing practices.
To ensure authenticity, his observations were conducted in a way that did not influence officer behavior, allowing him to capture a true picture of how our officers operate in the field.
His presentation focused on key aspects of modern policing, including:
- Informal surveillance
- Community engagement
- High-visibility patrol
- Business checks
- Traffic stops
Weβre proud to support future leaders in the criminal justice field, and even more proud to see the level of professionalism, attention to detail, and passion Juan demonstrated today.
The future of the justice system is in good hands. Juan, weβre rooting for you loud and proud!
