In 1938, over 12,000 pecan shellers, primarily Mexican American women, walked off the job in San Antonio to protest low wages and harsh working conditions. 🌰✨Led by activist Emma Tenayuca, the San Antonio Pecan Shellers Strike became the largest strike in the city’s history, ultimately leading to a wage increase for the workers. 💪

Fun Find Friday is here! 🥳We discovered some early blueprints from the 1920s to 1930s of the South Texas State Teachers College (later Texas A&I and then TAMUK). The Administration Building (now Manning) was the second building on campus.🥈 It is also where classes, the library, and offices were located in those first years!
