From first pitch to the final out, Javelina Night at the Houston Astros game was filled with laughter, memories, and plenty of Blue & Gold pride. Thank you to all of our alumni, friends, and supporters who joined us for an incredible evening at the ballpark.

Last Friday was filled with proud moments, happy tears, and unforgettable memories as the newest graduates of Texas A&M University-Kingsville crossed the stage and officially joined the Javelina Alumni family!

We were also honored to receive a generous donation supporting the Texas A&M University–Kingsville Rodeo Team.

🎓Alumni Spotlight: Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora '87, '88, '92, '99🎓

Meet Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora, a proud alumna whose journey began at Texas A&I University and continued through Texas A&M University–Kingsville, a true reflection of Javelina pride across generations.

From her roots in Kingsville to leading as Superintendent of Tomball Independent School District, Dr. Salazar-Zamora’s nearly 40-year career in education is driven by resilience, purpose, and a passion for student success. Inspired by her own experience overcoming hearing loss, she has dedicated her work to creating opportunities for all learners.

A 2023 Texas Superintendent of the Year and 2024 National Finalist, she is especially proud of balancing a successful career while being fully present for her family and giving back by mentoring future leaders along the way.

Dr. Salazar-Zamora’s connection to Texas A&M–Kingsville runs deep. As a Kingsville native, attending TAMUK felt like home and it became the foundation for both her personal and professional life. One of her favorite memories? Meeting her husband of 38 years in Freshman English. Together, they share six degrees from TAMUK and a lifetime of Javelina pride.

She credits the university’s close-knit environment and supportive faculty for shaping her path. “The TAMUK experience taught me that hard work does pay off,” she reflects. “It truly set a very solid foundation for my future success.”

Beyond her professional achievements, she remains committed to giving back: mentoring emerging leaders, supporting fellow alumni, and staying connected to the Kingsville community that helped shape her journey.

Her advice to current Javelinas is simple, yet powerful:

Dream Big. Dream Bold. Dream Often. Then go do it!
