Music at Meramec is seeking our next dynamic ACCOMPANIST to start in August. The successful candidate will play for the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers (rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30-1:50pm) and accompany Applied Music recitals and jury exams, with other playing opportunities and teaching that may fit the accompanist's availability and experience.

St. Louis Community College - Music at Meramec is proud to welcome Sebastian Buhts as the Conductor of the Meramec Orchestra!

Sebastian Buhts is a conductor, percussionist, and educator based in St. Louis, MO. Recently appointed as Conductor of the Meramec Orchestra at St. Louis Community College, Sebastian also performs as Principal Timpanist with Union Avenue Opera and teaches North Indian tabla drumming at Washington University in St. Louis.

Sebastian maintains an active and diverse performance schedule. Recent highlights include conducting “Meet Me In St. Louis” for the St. Louis Blues 2024 Opening Video, guest conducting the St. Charles County Symphony Orchestra, and conducting as a clinician for the orchestra, wind ensemble, and percussion studio at the National Taiwan University of Arts in Taipei. As a freelance percussionist, Sebastian has appeared with ensembles such as the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, and Metropolitan Orchestra of St. Louis.
