Thanks to alumnus Mike Walls, and his peers, for a gift to the ASCE Fund in memory of alumnus Bob Taylor Jr. as part of our $10,000 fundraising challenge marking our 100th anniversary along with this memorial:

“In memory and honor of Robert Henry Taylor, Jr (BSCE ’75). Our cherished friend and FUBAR teammate. U.S. Army veteran. Professional Engineer and Surveyor. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Avid and accomplished hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman, and creative artist. Renowned wit and storyteller. Consummate Virginia gentleman. Child of God. Family stalwart and touchstone. Perfect loving friend. Willing and skilled mentor. And one hell of an engineer!” - Bill Birkholz, Doug Dillingham, Bay Donahoo, Jerry Ledford, David Tucker, and Mike Walls.

On Monday, a group of our officers attended the Tennessee Engineers’ Conference in Franklin, TN. Our previous fundraising chair and concrete canoe captain, Savannah Quick, was awarded the 2022 Roger W. Meier Student Chapter Member Award by ASCE! The award was very deserving, as she constantly worked beyond her officer duties the past two years to ensure the success of our chapter. We are very proud of her, and we are extremely grateful for her contributions to our chapter.

We really enjoyed our site visit with in Knoxville today! Huge thanks to Ann Beaver and Jacob Gasnow for enlightening us on the several projects along Alcoa Highway. We got to watch videos of a huge pre-split blasting, see the great and infamous “Wall 8,” and even get our own police es**rt! We learned a whole lot from this trip, and we look forward to more site visits in the future!
