🇮🇹 What a day for the Italian Club! 🇮🇹

Huge thank you to everyone who stopped by the Italian booth at the 42nd Annual International Festival! The food, music, and energy were incredible. It wouldn’t have been such a success without all the amazing volunteers, students, and visitors who made it happen.

Your enthusiasm and support truly brought a little piece of Italy to Pedestrian Walkway. Grazie mille to everyone who helped make this event unforgettable! ❤️🍝🇮🇹

📣 Faculty Spotlight: Renée D’Elia-Zunino

We’re proud to celebrate Renée D’Elia-Zunino, who’s been inspiring UT Knoxville students for 27 years! Her passion for teaching Italian goes far beyond grammar — she connects language to music, culture, and everyday life.

From creative classes designed for engineering students traveling abroad to collaborative projects with the University of Palermo, Renée makes learning Italian an immersive and joyful experience.

Her philosophy says it all:

“Mistakes are part of the process… effort over perfection.”

Thank you, Renée, for your dedication and innovation in teaching! 🇮🇹

What lies at the threshold of the deepest Hell?

Through myth, metaphor, and medieval vision, Dante shows us what it means to betray — and how close we all stand to the frozen silence of Cocytus.

The Italian Program at UTK was thrilled to take part in the Upward Bound Annual Cultural Fair! We welcomed around 100 enthusiastic students who explored Italian culture through trivia, mask-making, watercolor painting, and even learned about Roman armor and shields—thanks to the wonderful collaboration with the Classics Department. 🛡️🎨📚

Upward Bound is a federally funded program that supports low-income, first-generation high school students in our region. Their mission is to expand students’ perspectives and prepare them to earn a college degree within six years of high school graduation—and we’re proud to be part of that journey!

Huge grazie to Laura, Maddux, and Florian for their amazing help in making this event such a success! 💫🇮🇹
