All, hope that the start of your year has been great! Welcome back for another year of great events with the Japanese Program!
Two of our clubs are having their first meeting of the year, TODAY π¨π¨π¨
Shamisen Club, 5-6 PM in HSS 113
Learn, play, and develop your skills in the traditional Japanese 3-stringed instrument, Shamisen! Led by Mahagi-LaCure Sensei, in this club you will play traditional songs, learn about the Shamisen, and play together with others! Beginners welcome! Managi-Sensei will be bringing a simple Shamisen (Shabo) that you can use to practice. Please come if you have time!
Shodo Club, 6-7 PM in HSS 57 (HSS 109 on 11/5)
Develop your skills in ζΈι (Japanese Calligraphy) with the Shodo Club! Every Wednesday, Dr. Shigetoshi Eda will lead us in mastering the skill of Shodo, developing new skills, writing characters, or even making drawings using traditional brushes (η). If you have any interest in this traditional, but evocative, art form, please attend this introductory meeting! Great for those learning Kanji.
Last year, we wrote the characters ζ°Έγη§γεΏγγγΏγγζγand practiced ε―γζΈγ(Collective calligraphy)γιͺγε’¨η΅΅Β (Sumi-e, black ink art)γη΅΅θζΈ(color art card with calligraphy)γand δΈγ΅γ€γΊζΈι(large calligraphy).
