HSEC took pride in showcasing their culinary talents in the Dogwood Hall kitchen, preparing a meal for the LLC residents.

All 4 floors came together to support the event, bringing energy, teamwork, and a strong sense of community to the kitchen as HSEC showed off their skills.

Last night was a hole-in-one ⛳✨
We had an amazing time celebrating our incredible student leaders at Topgolf! The energy was high, the swings were strong, and with Masters week in the air, we were all feeling a little extra competitive 🏌️‍♂️
From big swings to even bigger laughs, the night was full of connection and well-deserved recognition.

Coleman Bain is a mechanical engineering student at UT and a third-year Haslam Leadership Scholar. 🌍

Through the program, he studied leadership and innovation in Rwanda and Kenya, exploring how leaders navigate crisis, and later studied photojournalism in Tokyo.

On campus, Coleman serves with Student Alumni Associates, hosting alumni and campus events and helping recruit new members. He is also a Leadership Knoxville Scholar and mentors students through Emerald Youth.

Professionally, he interned in project management with ICON Mechanical in Nashville, earning the “Most Innovative” award for developing a solution to improve the company’s timekeeping software.

His technical interests include advanced materials and computational modeling, with research experience in carbon composites and high-entropy alloys.

This summer, Coleman will intern with NASA working on structural dynamics!

🌟 Student Spotlight 🌟

Over winter break, Gavin Morris and Cameron Achata performed at the 46th International Navy Band Symposium in Fairfax, Virginia as members of The Iris Quartet, proudly representing the Natalie L. Haslam College of Music.

Joining them were Brandon Criswell and Dylan Colston. (From left to right: Gavin Morris, Brandon Criswell, Dylan Colston, and Cameron Achata.) The group photo also includes their faculty sponsor, Dr. Allison Adams.

As part of the College Quartet Series, the students performed for an international audience and participated in masterclasses and performances hosted in part by the United States Navy Band and some of the world’s leading saxophonists.

Their program featured:

This nationally competitive scholarship supports students pursuing transformative study abroad experiences, and we are incredibly proud of them for representing not only University Honors, but also the University of Tennessee, Knoxville on a global stage!

🌟 Alumni Spotlight🌟

Join us in celebrating Sana Boghani, a 2025 graduate of the Chancellor’s Honors Program! 🎓

She earned her B.A. in Communication (Summa Cum Laude) and was recognized as one of the top four graduates in the College of Communication and Information.

As an undergraduate, Sana completed an outstanding senior thesis titled “Shaping Health Identity: Supportive Communication for Young Breast Cancer Survivors,” fulfilling capstone requirements for both CHP and her Honors Concentration. Her research was recently uploaded to the Tennessee Research and Creative Exchange. A testament to her dedication and impact!

We’re so proud of the passion, leadership, and excellence she brings as a member of our alumni community.

William Benedict Nicolas is a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate and Chancellor’s Honors Scholar at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

He is a Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Research Assistant, Honors MechE student, and MLT Career Fellow (Class of 2028), with interests in robotics, autonomous systems, and real-world engineering solutions.

Beyond academics, William is the Founder and President of the UT Filipino American Association, where he leads initiatives that foster inclusive community and cultural engagement on campus.

His work reflects a strong commitment to leadership, collaboration, and hands-on learning both inside and outside the classroom!

Chancellor’s Honors Program (CHP)

The Chancellor’s Honors Program is UT’s largest and most flexible honors pathway, designed for curious, high-achieving students who want to take their learning beyond the classroom.

- Focus on creative problem-solving and interdisciplinary learning
- Opportunities for faculty-mentored research and global experiences
- Annual book/tech stipend
- A close-knit community of scholars across all majors

Haslam Leadership Scholars (HALS)

The Haslam Leadership Scholars program is a highly selective, cohort-based experience for students passionate about leadership and service.

- Covers tuition, fees, room, and board through a generous scholarship
- Includes a study abroad experience, a TN-Based internship experience, and a capstone project that makes real impact
- Builds a network with faculty mentors, peers, and alumni
