TRIO works! TRIO programs at Tusculum – Educational Talent Search, Student Support Services, Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math and Science –and those at other higher education institutions across the country are funded through federal grants. Recently, President Donald Trump’s administration presented a budget proposal that would eliminate funding for TRIO programs. That would have a tremendous impact on Tusculum and the college and pre-college students we serve.

Alumni of TRIO programs are encouraged to express their views at https://fs3.formsite.com/coecoecoecoe/gue9fat7y6/index.

We ask that you complete the process by Friday, May 23. Thank you in advance for backing TRIO!

At least 70% of high school senior participants in the pre-college programs at Tusculum University from the 2023-24 academic year were enrolled in or were accepted into college. The retention rate for SSS and ARCHES participants from 2020-2025 was 81%. Eighty-eight percent attained academic good standing, and 61% graduated within six years. Students who have participated in SSS, which serves our traditional undergraduate students, and ARCHES, which serves our online undergraduate students, are twice as likely to graduate compared to those who qualify for the programs but elect not to be members.

Summer courses have a reduced price!

Students can save $500 per credit hour for undergraduate courses compared to the fall and spring semesters – a 56 percent savings – by taking summer courses! For just $400 per credit hour, students can put themselves closer to earning their degree and ease their load in the spring and fall semesters.
So, students, how about taking some summer classes? Registration is underway!
Also, remember: Students who take six credit hours during the summer in their program of study might be able to use financial aid to pay for the classes. Those who are Pell-eligible and/or HOPE Scholarship-eligible and enroll for those hours within their program of study can tap into those grants/scholarships during the summer.
Students who find this appealing should meet with the Office of Financial Aid and their academic advisor to determine available classes and receive an individualized summary of financial aid available. Financial aid can be reached at 423-636-7377 or at [email protected] and is located on the ground floor of Virginia Hall.
Students cannot register for courses if they have a business office hold on their student account. In addition, they must meet with their advisor before they can choose courses even if financial aid is not a concern for them.
