Microsoft's Windows 10 support officially ends on October 14, 2025, meaning no more security updates, feature updates, or technical assistance will be provided for the operating system after that date. Microsoft recommends upgrading devices that meet the requirements to Windows 11 for a modern and secure experience. For devices that cannot run Windows 11, an option is the Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, which extends security support for a limited time, or replacing the device with a Windows 11 compatible PC.

We are excited to announce an important update to our password policy that will enhance the security of our systems and protect your personal information.

Starting October 1, 2024, all new passwords must adhere to the following requirements:

• Length: Passwords must be at least 16 characters long.
• Complexity: Passwords should include a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters (e.g., !, @, #, $).
• Existing Passwords: You do not need to change your existing password unless you choose to. Once you have your new password in place, it will remain valid without recurring changes.
• New Passwords: Any new or updated passwords must follow the latest guidelines.

This change is designed to provide an additional layer of security while offering greater flexibility in password creation. We believe these measures will significantly enhance the protection of our systems and your data.

Student IDs

Students may come to any campus during regular hours of operation, without an appointment, to have their picture taken and student ID card made. Bring identification such as a driver’s license to:

Hardin Valley Campus – 2 locations
Open Computer Lab (ERC 327)
Or Information Technology Desk (GN240)

Site campuses – Campus Library
Students who are unable to visit one of our campuses in person may use a driver’s license for proctored tests. The College will no longer be sending ID cards through the mail.

The following is a list of some keyboard shortcuts Mac users may want to know more about:

Command-Y
A lot of people use Quick Look to preview items they're looking for. To use Quick Look, select an item in Finder, press the Space bar and a preview will appear. There’s also a keyboard shortcut — select an item (you can even use the Up and Down arrows to navigate to it in Finder view) and then press Command-Y.

Command – Comma (,)
This is one of the least-known keyboard commands on a Mac, but it’s super useful. It works like this: You are working in an app, and you want to open the application’s Preferences. You can navigate to the Menu bar if you like and scroll through to access the Preferences. Or you can simply press Command-, (comma) to get to them in the fastest possible time.

Command-G
I'm sure you use Command-F to find items, such as words in a document or on a webpage. Command-G is its lesser-known relative. Use it to navigate through each instance of the item you want to find. This means that if you use Command-F to find all the mentions of 'Command' on this page, and then tap Command-G, you'll be able to navigate through each one. Oh, and you can also press Shift-Command-G to move back to the previous mention.

Command-M
Press this combination to minimize the front app window to Dock, or press Command-Option-M to minimize all the windows belonging to the front app
