Professor and Goodrich Chair of Excellence in Civil Engineering Frank Loeffler and his coauthors published new research on the environmental impacts of “forever chemicals” in Nature Microbiology last week. Their study uncovered that bacteria incorporate polyfluoroalkyl carboxylates into the molecules that make up their cell membranes. Learn more about their work at the link below:

Professor Jon Hathaway of Civil and Environmental Engineering - UT Knoxville, and his team are midway through a $2.6M grant to bring a novel, low-cost living stormwater management system to underserved communities in the Knoxville area.

Congratulations to Department Head and Robert M. Condra Professor Chris Cox on receiving the American Society of Civil Engineers Knoxville Branch's Daryl Armentrout Award for Distinguished Service!

Cox was honored for his efforts in developing the Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering at UT and for hosting ASCE’s National Civil Engineering Department Heads Conference in 2024.
