In this clip, Bergie shares a lesson he learned from his therapist while on reality TV that changed how he approaches communication in both life and physical therapy.

When you're nervous, it’s easy to start thinking about what you’re going to say next instead of fully listening. But in patient care, especially during the subjective exam, slowing down and truly hearing the patient can make a big difference.

Simple reminder:

Findings suggest that targeted, evidence-based educational interventions may help therapists identify patients who could benefit from motivational strategies to enhance activity levels and improve outcomes.
