Last Friday’s paper-making workshop turned out AMAZING it was filled with creativity, community, and so many creations!

Last night, the UWL Sustainability team for 2025–2026 came together to celebrate the end of an amazing year while also recognizing two incredible student leaders, Hillary Haarstad and Caroline Ingwell, for the impact they’ve made on our program. 💚🌎

As our Social Media & Marketing Coordinator, Hillary spent the past three years helping grow UWL Sustainability’s presence through creative content, event promotion, and community outreach. Her passion for sustainability and ability to connect with students through storytelling has left a lasting mark on our team.

As our Events & Engagement Coordinator, Caroline helped create meaningful opportunities for students to get involved through hands-on events, outreach, and community engagement. From Earthapalooza to Mending Masters, her leadership helped bring students together and make sustainability more accessible across campus.

We are so thankful for the creativity, positivity, and dedication both Hillary and Caroline brought to UWL Sustainability.

As we grow deeper into May, we’re taking a moment to reflect on Earth Month and all the incredible ways the UWL community showed up for our planet!

From clean-ups and educational events to creative workshops and Earthapalooza, April was filled with meaningful moments that brought people together to celebrate and protect the environment.

We loved seeing everyone come together and work towards one goal, here are just a few of the amazing people that showed up and made an impact this past month 🌎✨

We are SO proud to recognize this year’s Prairie Springs Environmental Leadership Award recipients! Individuals who are not only taking meaningful environmental action, but inspiring others to do the same 💚

This award honors one student and one faculty member who are making a lasting impact through their work in sustainability, both on campus and in the community.

The Prairie Springs Environmental Leadership Awards are funded through the Prairie Springs: The Paul Fleckenstein Trust, which also supports student research, fellowships, and opportunities focused on environmental education, conservation, and wildlife habitat protection.
