In September of 1872, twenty young women entered Syracuse University. As the university first opened its doors to women, the challenges of pursuing their studies in a thoroughly male dominated environment set in. These women had a pressing need for support and friendship. Among these earnest students entering in August of 1872 were six freshmen, three sophomores, and a junior whose "brave heart we

re filled with a noble purpose and whose eyes saw clearly into the future." These were the founders of Alpha Phi. These women were the original ten. The Delta Kappa Chapter
Our local sorority was founded in 1950 and at that time was known as Iota Xi Omega. The aim of the women was to further musical interests and high cultural values among its members. The sorority was active with homecoming activities, the inter-sorority formal, Song Fest, Winter Carnival and the Variety Show. On September 8, 1962 Iota Xi Omega became the colony of Alpha Phi National Sorority. The Delta Kappa chapter of Alpha Phi was installed on March 2, 1963. There are many ways to get involved around campus, and Alpha Phi is a great example. We hold high ideals of sisterhood, scholarship, and community service. Alpha Phi can prove to be very beneficial to you throughout your college years and beyond. Going Greek has proven to be a very rewarding opportunity. Along with benefits such as friendship, support, and encouragement, Alpha Phi offers leadership positions, community and philanthropic service, academic support, interpersonal skills, and educational conferences. Even more importantly, it provides a lifetime of networking with Greeks of all ages throughout the world. We highly encourage you to take a closer look at our organization to see what we have to offer you.

Sisters Abroad ✈️
Our sister, Ava McCaw is a sophomore who has been spending this semester studying at IAU in Aix en Provence, France!

“Studying abroad has been something I’ve dreamed about for so long, and it’s been truly a once in a life time experience. I’ve learned so much here, not just in class but also through exploring the new world around me. As an international business major and French minor, it’s been so special to experience different cultures firsthand and see how that translates in the business world. I’ve also gotten to meet amazing locals and have been able to improve my french! Studying abroad has been such a time for personal growth and reflection and it has been so rewarding. I’ve met so many amazing people, explored beautiful cities, and I’ve made so many lifelong memories. I feel so grateful to call France a second home!”

We are so happy for you Ava and cannot wait for you to be back with us!! ❤️

WHY PHI WEDNESDAY
This week we are hearing from Grace Fuss!! Grace is a freshman, majoring in Marketing with minors in International Business and Digital Media Studies and Design!!
Her Grand Big is Ava Lally and her Big is Ava McCaw!!

“I chose Alpha Phi as a freshman because I was coming into college not knowing many people, but hoping to find a place where I truly belonged. Growing up with two brothers, I had always wanted a sister, and through Alpha Phi, I found not only that sisterhood but also an incredible group of women who genuinely support and uplift one another. What I didn’t expect was how much Alpha Phi would help me grow as an individual. Being part of this chapter has helped me become more confident and outgoing, pushing me outside of my comfort zone in the best way possible. I will never forget the opportunities I’ve been given to build meaningful, lifelong relationships. To me, Alpha Phi is an empowering environment where individuals can flourish, grow, and create lasting connections.”

Alpha Phi is so lucky to have you Grace! Share some love for her in the comments🩷

Why Phi Wednesday
Featuring Carlie Tesch, a senior Exercise & Sport Science major from Muskego, WI❤️
“Starting the next chapter of my life in college, I knew I wanted to join a sorority to meet lifelong friends, get involved on campus, and fully experience opportunities that college had to offer. But my first semester was a little bit rough; I wasn’t sure if UWL was the place for me, if I had found my people, or if would get the college experience I had dreamed up. That all changed when I joined Alpha Phi second semester freshman year. I met some girls first semester that encouraged me to go on a coffee date at the end of COB season. After getting to meet more girls from the chapter and seeing first hand how driven, passionate, caring and encouraging they were towards one another, I know I would feel at home and would be pushed to become the best version of myself. I’ve had the honor of serving on exec as VP of New Member Education and that opportunity allowed me to grow in my leadership skills and serve my chapter’s new and current members in really special ways that I will never forget. I want to continue giving back to Alpha Phi after I graduate by joining an alumni chapter and maybe even becoming an advisor! I will forever be grateful to Alpha Phi for the lifelong sisters I’ve gain because it’s not just 4 years, it’s for life. “
We are so grateful for the impact Carlie has made on our chapter! Share some love for Carlie below!!🤍

WHY PHI WEDNESDAY
This week we’re highlighting Leah Grudzinski, a freshman studying Nutrition Pre-PA from Verona, WI. Her big is Anna Grant🤍
“I joined Alpha Phi because I felt a sense of comfort and belonging. All of the girls were genuine, welcoming, and confident in a way that felt inspiring rather than intimidating. You could really tell that everyone supported one another, and it didn’t feel forced or surface-level.
Alpha Phi has given me a sense of confidence that I could’ve never expected. Being surrounded by strong, motivated women has helped me believe more in myself and grow into a more outgoing version of who I was.
One moment I’ll never forget was participating in the Salvation Army Angel Tree project this winter—getting to shop for Christmas gifts for kids in the community with my sisters was so special.
Alpha Phi has shown me the importance of leadership, sisterhood, and showing up not just for yourself, but for others too.”
We are so lucky to have Leah’s positive energy and genuine spirit in our chapter! 🤍
