Under the supervision of the OASIS Assistant Director, the Bridge Coordinator is responsible for the big-picture vision, administration, and management of the Bridge Program, a student support program that is designed to facilitate the academic and sociocultural transition of 300 UCSD freshmen. Bridge commences in the summer to provide a jump-start collegiate experience and provides support throughout students’ first year of college. This position directs office-wide efforts to serve priority student populations, which include: 1) outreach and engagement; 2) program development, implementation, and evaluation; 3) recruitment, training, and supervision of three full-time and 200 student staff; 4) $1.5 million budget allocation and operations.
Independently develops and administers complex programs to provide holistic counseling to high potential student populations, including setting program goals and objectives. Provides direction to undergraduate Academic Achievement Counselors (ATCs) on most complicated and sensitive counseling situations. Advises organization management / departments / academic programs about the special needs of underserved populations. Manages in-service professional staff training programs, provides administrative and instructional direction to OASIS Learning Communities (OLCs), including the weekly OLC seminar. Develops and maintains a high level of collaboration with the six colleges, academic departments, and other campus entities.
Conducts research/assessment on student outcomes. As a member of the OASIS Management Team, assists in the planning and development of OASIS policies and programs. Acts in the place of the OASIS Director as assigned. Serves on Campus and UC system-wide committees regarding academic progress and retention of students in transition.
Must be available during the month of August for the four week, OASIS Bridge program.
Must have access to reliable transportation.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
