UC San Diego Activist Training Summit

This summit is hosted by CALPIRG Students, AS Civic Engagement Office, and the AS Local Affairs office. The summit will be on May 1st from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm with an hour break and on May 2nd from 9:45 am - 1:30 pm. The summit will be held virtually via zoom! We want to create a space for activism on campus, if you are a student leader, interested in social change, and want to learn how please join us at this event!

We will create a space for discussion around the most important challenges of our times and foster collaboration among activists and leaders on campus and in the San Diego area. Additionally, if you attend this event you will receive a certificate stating you have received the training necessary to be a student activist!

Are you passionate about serving your community and learning about those who are a part of it? Do you want to improve health outcomes and decrease the loneliness of both seniors and students in the community? If so, consider applying to a cohort of like-minded students.

This quarter, the discussion groups will take place every Friday in May from 12-1 pm. If you are interested in being a part of the group, we ask that you attend all of the May meetings. This attendance helps to ensure that the conversation fosters relationships and that every week can build on itself. Please consider filling out the following application by April 21st at 8 pm if you can attend all of the required meetings.

We are looking for students of all backgrounds and encourage everyone to apply. The only requirement is that you are excited about participating and looking forward to being an active member of the group.

This year you have the opportunity to create some extra special cards for Valentine's day ❤️! During this challenging time, many people are finding themselves isolated and lonely. CSI invites you to sign up for our card-making project and receive FREE supplies to make greeting cards for one of our most at-risk populations in San Diego. All of the cards will be sent to St. Pauls Senior Service with the hopes of combatting some of the loneliness that seniors might be feeling this year. Join this interactive intergenerational dialogue featuring seniors from the San Diego community and YOU! This workshop will be an opportunity s to share the unique perspectives that every member of the conversation has to offer by incorporating different viewpoints and stories across generations. The conversation will be focused on altruism and community service. We will explore how the expression of community service has changed and share stories about how community service has impacted us. The hope is to explore what social change means to each individual and discuss the process of progress in our communities.
