The Center for Networked Systems (CNS) is a UC San Diego Computer Science and Engineering research c

The Center for Networked Systems (CNS), established in 2004, forms a hub for some of the leading research in networked systems and security. CNS brings together researchers in the UCSD community with those in industry to develop key technologies and frameworks for networked systems as well as to foster a lively intellectual community that works to accelerate the advance of innovation in the field.

Our areas of expertise and activity involve modeling network traffic and topology, network security (including botnets, spam, and the underground economy), data center architecture, energy efficiency, thermal and energy management in compute infrastructure and wireless devices, "cloud" computing; data center networking, wireless system performance and diagnosis, and database organization for unstructured ("XML") data.

Applications are due April 2nd for the CNS Alan Turing Memorial Scholarships. The scholarships are for enrolled UC San Diego undergraduates who actively support the LGBTQIA+ community and major in computer science, computer or electrical engineering, communications, or political science/public policy majors, and other programs touching on networked systems who can describe in their application how they are connected to the LGBTQIA+ community* and are actively advocating for LGBTQIA+ issues. Preference is given to students with demonstrated academic merit, academic involvement and financial need.
