🌟 Spotlight in Family Planning Research: Jasmine Uysal

From a young age, Jasmine Uysal questioned unfairness. “When people told me life wasn’t fair, my first question was always—why not?”

Today, as a predoctoral fellow at the Center on Gender Equity and Health at UC San Diego, Jasmine brings that lifelong drive for fairness to the intersection of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) research and violence prevention.

🎥 In this short video, Jasmine shares:
🔹 How personal experience shaped her commitment to SRHR and violence prevention
🔹 What drives her research on scaling evidence-based interventions
🔹 Why she believes in change–and the people making it happen
🔹 And how this work connects to her hope of building a better world for her daughter

This is the first spotlight in our “Family Planning: Why I Chose This Field” series. Stay tuned as we continue to share the stories of researchers whose passion, lived experience, and leadership are shaping the future of family planning and gender equity.
