Did you know that the Department of Extended Learning at the University of La Verne provides our program participants with virtual appointments to have their resume reviewed. A couple of observations based on the resumes we have reviewed in the last few weeks are as follows:

· Lack of career objective
· Lack of action verbs
· Typos and grammatical errors
· Using unprofessional emails
· Highlighting duties instead of accomplishments – use metrics
· No LinkedIn URL
· Resumes that are too long i.e. 3 or more pages

For those working on their resume, does your resume contain any of these mistakes? Here’s a good example of how to use an action verb with metrics: Increased organic search visits 20% year over year.
