I was at Ivy Tech Community College this morning to give a presentation on cover crops and planting green during their Community College Alliance for Agriculture Advancement Conference. I got to talk to a group of educators from other states and colleges attending the conference.

Afterwards I got a quick tour of some cool tech like their cover crop interseeder, autonomous sprayer, drones, sprayer and combine simulators, and smart drainage system. Neat stuff!

Thanks to Kraig for the invite!

Last week, three more students from our Advanced Manufacturing Education Program (AMEP) graduated and began the next stage of their Caterpillar journey. Congrats to Tyler Jennings, Lacey Gibson, and Seth Whitmore!

The AMEP is a partnership between Caterpillar Lafayette and Ivy Tech Community College that allows high school graduates and those looking to start a career in manufacturing to get a free Ivy Tech education while working and learning on the job at the Caterpillar Lafayette Engine Center.

Tyler, Lacey, and Seth are assembly technicians who will receive promotions for completing the program, and they all hope to continue gaining experience and learning new skills across multiple areas here at Caterpillar Lafayette. They believe that the AMEP is a great launching platform to help with those goals.

“The program was a great confidence builder,” Tyler shared. “I've learned a lot over the last year and a half. I went from knowing little to nothing to understanding and applying a lot more than I ever could have anticipated.”

Congratulations again to the AMEP graduates on all that they have accomplished!
