The mission of the Office of First-year Experience (OFYE) is to help freshmen have a successful first-year college experience at UL Lafayette.

Freshman year is huge—for many of you it will be the first time to spend an extended time away from family and friends, which can be exhilarating or stomach-churning, sometimes both in alternating succession. The Office of First Year Experience is here to help you start your new life as a university student off right!

You’ve (almost) made it through your first week of classes!🎉 We’re nearing the end of Cajun Craze and we have had the best time welcoming everyone back to campus. But don’t worry- we aren’t done yet!🤟

Today we have:
🎯Outdoor Games- enjoy some yard games in the Quad and on the porch in between classes
✈️ Out of State Student Mixer- meet other out-of-state students and learn about the distinct culture of Lafayette and Louisiana
🏀 Rec Fest- join Rec Sports at Bourgeois Hall for games, fun, and prizes. Be sure to stick around for the 🎨 COLOR RUN 🎨 Come see all our Student Rec Center has to offer!
🙌 Late Night Worship- enjoy a late night worship with Chi Alpha

Goooooood morning, Cajuns! Why is it going to be a good morning? Because it’s Get on Board Day!🎉🎉 This is a great chance to see all the student organizations UL has to offer. Getting involved cab play a huge part in your story at UL🔥 So get out if you comfort zone and take the first step today!

🤟Get on Board Day- explore all the amazing 100+ student organizations to see how you can get involved
🍔Bingo and Burgers- get some food and possibly win a prize with the Wesley
🫧Foam Party- a night of music, dancing, waterslides, and FOAM!

🪗 Two Steppin’ Tuesday- a uniquely Cajun experience of Zydeco and line dance lessons (no experience necessary) and light bites!

It’s finally here, the day we have been waiting for all summer… New Student Convocation Day! Shuttles are running from the Student Union to the Cajundome starting at 1:00🚍 You can also drive to Cajun Field and walk under Cajundome Blvd. via the pedestrian tunnel. Doors open at 1:30pm, see you soon!🤟

Today’s Schedule:
🙏 Campus Ministry Sunday Services- our campus ministries are offering a variety of different Sunday services.
🌰 New Student Convocation- the academic welcome to the university where you will learn about making your mark on campus.
🏠 Residence Hall Floor Meetings- required meetings for residents where you will meet your RA and other students on your floor.
🌟 Class Glow-Cators- grab a glow stick and explore campus as you find your classes before your first day
🎤 Freshman Karaoke Battle- a sing-off with cash prizes

💐 Farmer’s Market- head over to Moncus Park for the Saturday Farrmer’s Market full of local artisanal goodies
📋 Super Saturday- a one-stop shop with in person enrollment assistance
🐊 Swamp Party- our annual Cajun Craze kickoff party full of food, games, and swag you can only find at Swamp Party!
🏆 Freshmen World Cup- compete in futsal and pickleball for a prize
