It was a historic day at UL Lafayette yesterday celebrating our newly achieved R1 Carnegie Classification with faculty, students, staff and friends of the University! The prestigious R1 designation places us among the top 3% of research universities in the United States. Thank you to the faculty, staff and student researchers who helped us achieve this recognition and to those who celebrated with us today, including U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, State Sen. Gerald Boudreaux and UL System President Dr. Jim Henderson.

UL Lafayette celebrates research excellence with faculty recognition.

The University honored faculty from each college for research excellence at the annual Research Recognition Ceremony at the LITE Center on Feb. 11. Congratulations to each of the recognized researchers and to all whose work has helped propel the University to R1 status. The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education ranked UL Lafayette as an R1 top-tier research university, its most prestigious designation, late last year.
