Polk State College- Students Working for Equal Rights SWER is a youth-led organization that advocates for the immigrant rights, particularly immigrant youth in Florida.

There are chapters across the state, both campus and community based. Polk State College's SWER chapter was founded by Mayra Hidalgo in 2010 due to an evident need on the campus and in the community for an immigrant youth organization. The few undocumented students able to enroll at Polk State College lived in fear of deportation and separation from their families. Our chapter sought to organize s

tudents on campus with the hope of creating a network of resources for undocumented students in the community.
