β€’ Happy Thanksgiving! In honor of today, we wanted to reflect on our trip 1719 Museum earlier this semester. This museum works alongside the Circle Legacy Center to honor the local indigenous communities of Lancaster and educate the public on local indigenous history and culture.

On Thanksgiving day, and all days, it is important for us to educate ourselves and recognize those whose land we inhabit all over the country.β€’

KD Goes Abroad

Today we get to hear from Sophie about her summer abroad!

I did the DIS: Summer in Scandinavia program in Stockholm, Sweden this past summer. I took two courses while there, Travel Writing and World of Vikings. During the first course, we traveled to Croatia where I got to see beautiful architecture and swim in the crystal clear water. I had a short break before starting my next course, so my friend and I went to GΓΆteborg, Sweden, which is where my family originates from which was so cool to see! I also got to hike the Trolltunga trail in Norway the weekend before I went to Iceland with my second class. While in Iceland, I saw stunning waterfalls and even got to see puffins, which are a lot smaller than I thought. I was only there for seven weeks, but it was an unforgettable experience that I will treasure forever!

so proud of our sisters who presented their research and summer experiences during True Blue Weekend! πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’™

KD Goes Abroad

Adrianna tells us about her study abroad experience!

β€œLast spring I studied abroad in Berlin through IES Abroad where I took political science courses taught entirely in German. Not only did I get to expand my language competency but I also got to connect my Government and German majors together. For instance, my favorite class was German Political Philosophers. It was so rewarding to be able to read philosophers like Hannah Arendt in the original language. At the same time I got to make so many memories with new and old friends. Some of the highlights of my semester were seeing the Berlin Philharmonia, engaging with the political climate in Berlin, spending spring break in Italy, cheering on the local Berlin soccer team, and visiting sisters abroad in Copenhagen. I absolutely loved living in the capital city, I felt as if there was always a way to further immerse myself may that be at a protest at the Brandenburg Gate, at a film festival, at one of the many street markets, or along the East Side Gallery. I feel like my abroad semester was a chance for me to recenter myself and focus on being present. Other places I visited: Hamburg, Potsdam, Wannsee, Dresden, Italy, Copenhagen.”

Happy ✺ This week our sister Mia talks about why she joined KD ✺

β€œI joined Kappa Delta during the spring of my freshman year. When I joined, I was doing zoom classes from home, but even online I got to know everyone so well! As soon as I got back to campus in the fall, I was greeted by an entire chapter of friendly faces and people I call my best friends! Through Kappa Delta, I learned to embrace my confident side, and I learned valuable skills through leadership positions. Kappa Delta continues to create an enriching environment where I can grow as a leader, a friend, and a college student!”

β˜† Today we are kicking off a series of features of our abroad sisters and all of their adventures! Emma tells us about her travels so far:

I'm at Boston University London Internship Program this semester! I'm taking International Relations in the UK, and Theater courses in London and will have a legal advising internship in London. My favorite experience is attending the memorial for the queen at Buckingham Palace. I was lucky to witness the history and British culture through the biggest royal ceremony of this century. β˜†
