Antelope Valley College's Aeronautic Programs consist of both the FAA 147 approved Airframe & Powerplant Program and the Aircraft Fabrication & Assembly Technician Program. Airframe & Powerplant Program consists of three components—general aircraft maintenance, aircraft airframe and aircraft powerplant—designed for those seeking to take exams for an airframe and powerplant license. d is housed within Barnes Aviation's facilities. Staffing for this program includes two full-time faculty members and two instructional assistants. Aircraft Fabrication & Assembly Technician Program provides inexperienced students with entry-level skills for the aerospace industry and experienced students with upgraded skills. The program is housed in the Technology Building, which boasts industry-standard equipment with state-of-the-art laboratories. Antelope Valley College is one of the few community colleges in the United States offering composites fabrication and repair. Staffing for this program includes one full-time instructor and several adjunct faculty from industry. Both programs share similar student demographics as well as successful certificate and completion rates. The California Community Colleges Board of Governors, in a landmark move for public higher education, gave approval to Antelope Valley College to develop the Airframe Manufacturing Technology bachelor’s degree programs as part of a pilot program approved by the Legislature and Gov. Faculty from both programs are currently working with their industry partners (Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, The Spaceship Company, and Scaled Composites) in identifying developing curriculum for this program.
