Today marks an important day in US history for African Americans. It was on this day in 1865 that the last group of slaves, in Texas, received the message of their freedom. Although freedom had been granted a few years prior to this day, news was slow to reach all enslaved people. Juneteenth celebrations started in Texas and became wide spread with parades, games, oral story telling of this historic event, plenty of food, and music. It has been within the last few years that Juneteenth has become federally recognized as an official holiday. Happy Juneteenth day!! ❤️🖤💚

As the 121st Founders Day comes to a close we hope that every sister near and far enjoyed this day of celebration. It has been a wonderful 121 years of service through music and forming sisterhood with songs. We challenge you to remember your why and strive to do just a little more, however that looks to you, this year.
