Spring 2020 Move-Out Protocols

Guidance on move-out protocols for Spring 2020. These protocols will include guidance for students currently remaining on campus, as well as those who need to return to retrieve belongings.

Students Currently Residing in On-Campus Housing

Students currently living in campus housing must move out by Noon on Saturday, May 16, 2020, except for non-traditional students who reside in Langston Commons or Cimarron Garden Apartments. All non-traditional students must complete the Summer 2020 Housing Application at my.langston.edu.

Express Check-Out will be utilized to maximize social distancing and limit interpersonal interaction.

Keys must be returned in order to avoid an additional fine of $375.00.

Students Needing to Retreive Belongings

In addition, we want to provide an update on the retrieval of belongings from on-campus housing facilities. On Friday, April 24, 2020, Governor Kevin Stitt signed and introduced the Open Up & Recover Safely (OURS) Plan for a phased re-opening of the state of Oklahoma. In accordance with that plan and in consultation with local public health officials, Langston University has made the decision for the retrieval of belongings to coincide with Phase II of the OURS Plan when non-essential travel resumes.

Students who need to retrieve belongings and complete move-out from campus housing must make an appointment through this link.

Move-out appointments for students who are not currently on campus will be scheduled between Sunday, May 17, 2020 and Sunday, May 31, 2020.

Students who cannot return to campus during this time frame should contact Residential Life and Housing Services directly at [email protected] for important instructions in order to avoid additional fines.

Enhanced campus access restrictions will remain in place during the move-out process. The campus will only be accessible through the South Gate nearest the Langston University Police Department.

For those returning to retrieve belongings, please follow the guidelines below for a safe and efficient move-out:

You must schedule an appointment to return to campus and retrieve your belongings.

Access to campus will only be permitted at the South Gate nearest the Langston University Police Department.

You must wear a cloth face mask on campus.

You will not be permitted to remain on campus overnight prior to moving out.

All appointments must be made at least 48 hours in advance of return to campus. Campus access will not be granted for appointments made less than 48 hours in advance.

You will not be permitted to arrive earlier than your appointment time and will be turned away at the South Gate.

Express Check-Out will be utilized to maximize social distancing and limit interpersonal interaction.

Students who do not properly move-out and return their key by June 1, 2020 will be assessed an additional fine of $375.00.

Please communicate with Residential Life and Housing Services if you need to reschedule your appointment, if you will be late for your appointment, or if you cannot return to campus. The Housing staff may be reached via email at [email protected]. Plese continue to monitor the Langston University COVID-19 Resource Page for additional updates and protocols.

Your patience and understanding have been extremely helpful, as this is a difficult and challenging situation for everyone to navigate. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and attention to these protocols to ensure the safety of all members of our community.

Sincerely,

Residential Life and Housing Services
