In collaboration with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Prince George’s County Chapter and the Prince George’s County Branch NAACP, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Iota Gamma Omega Chapter hosted a Candidate Forum featuring candidates for Sheriff, State’s Attorney, and County Executive.

With 350+ attendees and overflow seating needed to accommodate the crowd, community members showed up ready to listen, learn, and engage. Attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from candidates, ask questions, and leave more informed about the individuals seeking to serve our community.

We thank everyone who joined us in supporting informed voting, civic engagement, and an informed electorate. Together, we strengthen our community when we show up, stay engaged, and make our voices heard.

In support of Mental Health Month, the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Iota Gamma Omega Chapter teamed up with Bowie/Mitchellville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the Bowie Police Department, and Kaiser Permanente for a Mental Health Awareness Walk focused on wellness, community, and connection.
Attendees kicked off the morning with a high-energy Zumba warm-up, completed the 5K walk, and connected with community partners and local food trucks along the way. Together, we continue to encourage conversations around mental health while promoting healthy minds, healthy bodies, and strong communities.

We heard it’s National Superheroes Day! 🦸🏾‍♀️
The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Iota Gamma Omega Chapter's Inspiration Committee recently hosted its Overcomers' Luncheon!

At the luncheon, we honored what it means to overcome obstacles through faith while moving in peace and joy. Attendees experienced powerful spoken word, uplifting praise and worship, words of encouragement, and delicious food—all in a spirit of reflection, resilience, and renewal.

Because every overcomer carries a little superhero strength within. ✨

Happy Earth Day! 🌍

From planting trees to enjoying a peaceful nature walk, our time at Mount Rainier Nature Center was a beautiful reminder of the importance of caring for our environment and staying connected to nature. Along the way, we also learned more about the local wildlife that makes our community so unique 🐦🌿

Together, we made a positive impact while learning, growing, and giving back. Here’s to continuing the work of protecting our planet...today and every day!
