Great Lakes Christian College is happy to announce Melvin Balogh has been named the new Athletic Director for the College.

Balogh, a GLCC alumnus (2001), has served the College as a volleyball coach and as the Champion and Instructor of the Sports Management major for GLCC. He has been instrumental in the development of the relationship between the Leadership Development Center of GO Ministries and GLCC this past year. He has spent much of his career as a collegiate volleyball coach. He earned his master’s degree in Sports Management from Concordia University, Irvine, CA.

Greg Stauffer, GLCC’s Vice President of Enrollment Management, said, “Melvin has demonstrated a deep commitment to the College and a humble spirit that has made him the person to take on this responsibility. He is rooted in our culture, with friends and colleagues that he has known since his days at the College as a student. I am excited about the opportunity he has to lead our athletic program.”

Balogh will be overseeing a program that has grown from 23 student athletes in 2018 to an anticipated number of over 150 student athletes this year. President Frank Weller said, “Melvin will build on the strong foundation laid by previous GLCC Athletic Directors. Their hard work made the program what it is today." The program includes Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Soccer, Women’s Volleyball, with additions this year of Men’s Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Wrestling and Cross Country.

Todd Jones, Professor of Christian Ministries and GLCC’s Academic Dean said, “Melvin is an ideal AD for GLCC since he brings a wealth of experience on the court and in the classroom. Melvin knows the value of a good education, and he knows how to support student athletes in the classroom. I am confident that he will take GLCC to the next level academically as well as athletically.”

Great Lakes is excited about the future of the program. Please feel free to reach out to Melvin to offer your congratulations.
