You can help expand the Library of Things!

Through the Library of Things, students can check out tech and tools that help them succeed in class and beyond. With your help, we can expand this collection to include high-demand items requested by students and faculty.

Your gift will help us add a photo scanner, camera, and drawing tablet for art and digital media projects. A portable projector, external monitor, and presentation pointer for communication students and student organizations.

Today is LCC’s Star Day of Giving, a celebration of community, opportunity and impact.

These items will be available to all students, no matter their financial means.

Will you help students shine brightly?

Meet Caitlyn Stypa, Research and Instruction Librarian at Lansing Community College. Caitlyn shared with us her most proud moment working at the library.

I’ve been working at the Lansing Community College library for over two years, and one of the things I’m most proud of is my work on our leisure reading collection. When I started, it hadn’t been weeded or added to in over a year, due to Covid, so it was a little neglected, but some of my co-workers were about to start a diversity audit of this collection, and I was excited to jump in and help. We found the collection was not diverse enough, so when I took charge of it several months later, I made it a priority to better diversify the titles in terms of characters, authors, and genres. We also moved the collection to a much more visible spot in our library - you can see some our newly added books and graphic novels on display behind me. I walk by this display every morning, on my way in, and it’s so rewarding to see when our patrons have grabbed books to check out, to read for fun, despite their other priorities.
