It’s giving… Discovery! πŸ€ πŸ’›πŸ€Ž This Giving Day, join us in supporting real-world, hands-on opportunities for students like Lucas Dillon, a junior in mechanical engineering who is investigating a novel programmable stiffness metamaterial for safety-critical aerospace applications and Anna Kobulnicky, a senior in chemical engineering who is testing the properties of sugar beet molasses biopolymers.

These students were able to participate in the Wyoming Research Scholars Program as undergraduate students thanks to Giving Day support of the Samuel D. Hakes Memorial Fund, which gives students opportunities for hands-on, real-world experience.

We invite you to help give students like these a leg up on their dreams by visiting https://www.givecampus.com/s/ndzdbc (or the link in our bio) October 21-22.

The 4,500-square-foot High Bay Research Facility Structural Testing Laboratory gives UW students and researchers the rare opportunity to build - and break - everything from small-scale material specimens to full-scale structures. Here, the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management develops, evaluates and teaches about innovative materials and structural systems that make infrastructure more durable, resilient, and sustainable.

You can help us grow student opportunities at the best structural testing lab in the Mountain West by supporting the High Bay’s Excellence Fund this Giving Day! The fund will provide flexible resources for experiential learning through testing, student summer funding, equipment maintenance and upgrades, and innovative projects and research.

What are bimodal stiffness metamaterials? Just ask Lucas Dillon, a junior in the mechanical engineering department at the University of Wyoming. Lucas has been taking advantage of the Wyoming Research Scholars Program to do hands-on undergraduate research -- an opportunity that was made possible by the Samuel D. Hakes Memorial Fund in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Lucas's research investigates novel materials for safety-critical aerospace applications, so one day, you could take a trip on plane made safer by Lucas' research!

Want to support students like Lucas? We invite you to participate in Giving Day, October 21-22 - see the link in our bio or below! https://www.givecampus.com/s/ndzdbc
