The third in the nation to be endorsed by the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA) in 1987, NMSU’s PGA Golf Management Program is one of a limited number of programs fully accredited and endorsed by the PGA. Our 4½-year PGA Golf Management Program leads to a BBA with a major in Marketing and a specialization in Golf Management. We prepare graduates for careers as PGA members at various golf facilities and golf industry positions. NMSU is one of the few PGA Golf Management universities to own a golf course. We’ve hosted numerous NCAA championships, Callaway PGA Junior Series tournaments, USGA and Section PGA Championships. NMSU conducts more than 50 PGA Golf Management sanctioned golf tournaments in an academic year, paying out more than $120,000 in scholarships, prize money and gift certificates.

What a great experience at the PGA “Play the Game” Teaching & Coaching Summit!

Hannah Michael had an incredible opportunity to learn from some of the best teachers, coaches, players, and researchers in the world, including Randy Smith, Mark Blackburn, Bhrett McCabe, Sasho MacKenzie, Michael Breed, Dave Phillips, Jason Dufner, and many others.

We’re proud of Hannah for continuing to grow as a coach and take advantage of opportunities to learn from some of the best in the business. She’s doing great things in golf instruction and player development, and we’re excited to see where her career takes her!

An INCREDIBLE performance by Jackson Funkhouser!! Jackson is a junior in the program, a member of the men’s golf team, and just won the NM Open by seven shots!!! Jackson shot 61 in the second round to set the course record at Turtleback Mountain Golf and Resort, and finished 23 under par to set the NM Open scoring record. Truly remarkable!

The GMG Cup is staying in Las Cruces for another year!! Congrats to all of our players and directors who competed in the annual competition between NMSU and UCCS PGA Golf Management Programs.

This year was played at Cheyenne Shadows Golf Club in Fort Carson, CO. We’re proud of our players for the way they played and represented the program.

Thank you to UCCS PGA Golf Management for being great hosts and putting on a wonderful event. We’ll see you next year!

Congratulations and good luck to Chad Fribley on qualifying for his first U.S. Senior Open at age 50. After advancing through both local and final qualifying, Chad earned his spot in the championship with a 3-under 68 in final qualifying.

A graduate of the program, Chad also played for the Aggies before giving it a go on the mini tours, and eventually building a successful teaching career.

Now he’ll tee it up against the best senior golfers in the world at the U.S. Senior Open. We’re wishing you the best of luck this week.
