This week in the HRTM 4115: Entertainment Business and Venue Management class we had the pleasure to welcome Mr. Mike McLean back to share his experience and photography expertise including a photo shoot with model, Isaiah. We were also grateful to have Barbara "Mother" Hubbard join us. Her influence and resources make opportunities like connecting our students with these incredible industry professionals possible. The Halloween Pet Costume Contest is back for this spooky season! Submit photos of you and your Halloween sidekick today. We will share the photos of all entries on our social media pages and in our office to collect votes to name the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place costumes for this year. Dr. Hertzman braved the rain to attend the EPCC Hospitality and Tourism Advisory Board lunch. They served the full five course menu from their student-run Thirteen 90 restaurant. We got to see the great leadership of Rose Lucero, a HRTM alum and HRTM Board of Advisor member, who is now the program director and teaching Hospitality and Tourism classes at EPCC.

Dr. Jean Hertzman had the pleasure to celebrate the honorees at the New Mexico Hospitality Industry Awards this past Monday. Among the honorees was our student, Sofia Reyes, who was honored as a selected scholarship recipient and Jeremiah Richardson, owner of Proofed bakery, received the Faces of Diversity award. Notably, our long time advisory board member, former HRTM professor, and local Restauranteur, Ed Linderman received a lifetime achievement award. It is an exciting time at the New Mexico Restaurant Association celebrating the legacy of CEO Carol Wight upon her retirement and welcoming HRTM alumni, Victoria Sanchez-Martinez, as the new CEO. Cheers to all the honorees.
