Our ZotFunder campaign is officially LIVE!

Check it out! : ://zotfunder.give.uci.edu/rocketprojectsolids 🚀

This year, UC Irvine Rocket Project Solids is taking on our biggest challenge yet: going from 10,000 to 30,000 feet as we prepare to compete in the 30K Student Researched and Designed (SRAD) category at IREC 2027!

Every contribution helps fund essential materials, equipment, and testing opportunities while providing our members with valuable hands-on engineering experience!

Your support and donation is greatly appreciated :)

Last week, Rocket Project Solids had the pleasure of hosting Terran Orbital for a speaker event and lab tour!

A huge thank you to CEO Peter Krauss and Spacecraft Systems Engineer Joshua Smith for sharing their time, expertise, and experiences with our team. This was an incredible opportunity for our members to learn from industry professionals, explore potential career paths, and connect what we do to our futures in aerospace! 🚀

UCI Rocket Project Solids is proud to partner with Kenesto as an official sponsor for our 2026–2027 season!

Through Kenesto, our team is able to stay better organized and connected throughout the engineering process. By providing a centralized platform to manage, share, and collaborate on our CAD files, Kenesto helps our members work efficiently across designs and keep our engineering data organized as our rocket develops. This support will play an important role in aiding our team as we design, build, and work toward IREC 2027! 🚀

We’ve had great experiences using Kenesto in the past, and we are incredibly excited to now welcome them as one of our official sponsors.

We are beyond thankful to Kenesto for their continued support of UCI Rocket Project Solids and for helping our team reach new heights. We can’t wait to see what we accomplish together this season!

The Solids team is ready for IREC after a successful launch on May 17!

Months of preparation and have practice have led to our most successful flight yet for our competition rocket, Bright Fury, on a KNSB motor. After setting up Bright Fury on the launch pad at 8:20 am, the rocket reached our highest altitude in the history of this project: 10,170ft. Our SRAD flight computer successfully deployed both drogue and main parachutes and carried the rocket to a safe recovery. Our newest addition, the Field-Imaging Hardware (FIH) payload successfully separated during main deployment.

The team is now conducting final tests and touch-ups to prepare for the International Rocket Engineering Competition in Midland, Texas in T-minus two weeks. Go Solids!
