UNLV CRJ Mock Trial Team

UNLV CRJ Mock Trial Team UNLV Mock Trial is a program aimed at exposing collegiate students to Trial Advocacy. Students get academic credit for participating on the team.

The Criminal Justice Mock Trial Team competes against other colleges in American Mock Trial Association tournaments. At a tournament, teams of attorneys and witnesses present criminal or civil cases. Trials are very similar to actual trials, where attorneys make opening and closing statements, question witnesses, and argue rules of evidence. During the semester, experienced attorneys and judges wo

rk with students to help them develop powerful trial presentation skills. In addition, the criminal justice department offers courses to build understanding of trial advocacy (CRJ 340) and rules of evidence (CRJ 225).

Day 4 of our Summer Workshop! 😌👩‍⚖️

On Thursday, we got the chance to meet several legal professionals who told us all about their career and how they got to where they are today! Thank you to our speakers for inspiring and encouraging us!

We also got the chance to prepare for our Friday tournament through another scrimmage!

We ended the day with OBJECTION! Jeopardy. It was an absolute blast! 😋

Day 3 of our Summer Workshop! 🤩

Today, we learned about opening statements and closing arguments from one of our mentors at the Clark County Public Defender’s Office! 🗯️

We even watched a demo opening statement and closing argument from our very own Mockers! 😁

Next, we got a visit from College Fit, who told students all about preparing for college life! 📚

Then, we toured our very own Boyd School of Law, led by their Admissions Team! ⚖️

Finally, we met up with experts, Officer Gamboa and Dr.
Cortez, as we prepared our witnesses for cross examination! We thank them so much for their time! 👮‍♂️👩‍⚕️
