Healthcare history has a lot of names worth knowing. 📚💙

Dr. Antonia Novello made history in 1990 as the first woman and first Hispanic person to serve as U.S. Surgeon General.

Dr. Helen Rodríguez-Trías shaped public health through decades of work in pediatrics, reproductive health and health equity and became the first Latina president of the American Public Health Association.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating the people whose work helped change healthcare far beyond the exam questions. 🙌

Things that hit differently after you start studying pharmacy: 👀

A prescription label is suddenly full of information.
Dosage calculations have context.

Medication names start looking slightly less like keyboard smashes.
And you realize how much precision goes into the process behind the pharmacy counter.

90% is a pretty big number. 👀

According to the CDC, 90% of the nation’s $5.3 trillion in annual healthcare expenditures are for people living with chronic and mental health conditions.

For healthcare students, that puts a lot of what you learn into perspective. Patient care isn’t only about what happens in an emergency. Prevention, ongoing support, communication, and helping people manage long-term conditions are huge parts of healthcare too. 🩺

The more you understand the “why” behind the numbers, the more classroom concepts start connecting to real-world care.

Some jobs don’t pause for holidays and healthcare is one of them. 💙

This Labor Day, we’re recognizing the healthcare workers who keep showing up, caring for others, and doing the kind of work communities rely on every single day.

From patient care to behind-the-scenes support, your work matters. Always. 🩺

It's National Campus Safety Awareness Month

Campus safety is one of those things you don’t want to figure out for the first time when you actually need it. 📱

Do the 5-minute semester reset: save the important numbers, turn on alerts, know your exits, and make sure someone knows if you’re heading somewhere late.

Prepared > panicked. Every time. ✅

Pharmacy Technician myth check 💊

No, you are not expected to know every medication before class. No, the learning is not only memorization. And no, pharmacy work does not happen without communication.

Students can build knowledge through topics such as pharmaceutical calculations, prescription processing, labeling, compounding, terminology, accuracy, and teamwork.

Healthcare students don’t just learn information. They learn how to figure things out when the answer is not immediately obvious. 👀

You practice noticing details, connecting symptoms with what you’ve learned, prioritizing what matters, asking better questions, and adjusting when something changes.

That problem-solving mindset gets built through case studies, labs, assignments, and all those moments when your first answer is not quite right.

So yes, the coursework can challenge your brain. But it is also teaching you how to stay curious, think critically, and work through a problem step by step. 🩺🧠

POV: You’re about to walk into your first skills lab and suddenly forget every single thing you studied 😭

The equipment looks unfamiliar. Everyone else seems weirdly calm. Your brain is replaying the instructions at 2x speed.

The good news? Skills lab is where you’re supposed to learn, practice, ask questions, and make mistakes in a supervised environment.

Nobody walks in feeling fully confident on day one. Confidence usually shows up after repetition, feedback, and realizing, “Wait… I actually know how to do this now.” 🩺

Women have shaped healthcare as learners, caregivers, researchers, educators, technicians, administrators, and leaders.

On Women's Equality Day, we are celebrating the women in our campus community who are building knowledge, supporting one another, and preparing to take on real responsibility in healthcare.

Your ambition belongs in the room. 💜

Love healthcare, but don't see yourself wearing scrubs every day? 👀

Healthcare needs more than doctors and nurses. It also needs people who understand how hospitals, clinics, and healthcare organizations work behind the scenes.

In the Associate of Science in Health Care Administration program, you'll learn about healthcare systems, medical records, business operations, leadership, and more.

For the student who likes healthcare, organization, and making things run smoothly, this could be the perfect fit.
