This summer, Dr. Briola published a new book entitled, “Ora et Labora in Our Common Home: A Benedictine Invitation to Care for Creation.” The work unites Benedictine Monasticism with the Catholic Social Teaching pillar of Care for Creation emphasized by Pope Francis and Pope Leo XIV. To celebrate this achievement, the college will be hosting a book launch in the Verostko Center from 4:00-4:50 on Thursday Sept. 10th. Light refreshments will follow a brief presentation and discussion. All are welcome to attend the event! We hope to see you there!

Last week, Dr. Petrany and Fr. Matt attended the annual meeting of the Catholic Biblical Association (CBA). There, they also ran into theology alumna (‘23) and current Princeton graduate student Elizabeth Elin. At the conference, they took a picture of CBA contributors to Give Us This Day. You’ll see Dr. Petrany there, but look who else is there.. Elizabeth! Talk about a full circle moment!

Recently, Dr. McMahon spent some time in Calcutta, India with the Missionaries of Charity, which were founded by St. Mother Theresa. There, Dr. McMahon served at Nirmal Hriday (Pure Heart), which is a hospice for the terminally ill and destitute established by Mother Theresa in Kalighat. The Missionaries of Charity’s service continues to be grounded in the deepest commitment to the love of God in Christ and the dignity of the human person. Thank you, Dr. McMahon for your service and your effort to restart Saint Vincent’s work with the Missionaries of Charity through SVC Honors.
