Congratulations to our colleague Dr. Daniel Wildcat on this wonderful recognition!

Daniel R. Wildcat (Ph.D. ’06) is a Yuchi member of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma and a leading voice in Indigenous culture and environmental issues. A longtime educator at Haskell Indian Nations University, he has spent over four decades advancing Native knowledge systems through teaching, research and public engagement.

Wildcat is the 2026 Spotlight award winner, recognized by the UMKC Alumni Association for his accomplishments, leadership and public service.

Planning for the 2026 KU Powwow and Indigenous Cultures Festival is underway. Stay tuned for more updates to come in the new year! We are excited to see you April 11, 2026 at the Lied Center of Kansas - Performing Arts Center and The University of Kansas Powwow Grounds!
*The second Saturday of every April is when our powwow and festival is held.
