The University of Kansas Master of Arts in International Studies Organization (KU – MISO) exists to provide graduate students with an opportunity to create a network amongst their peers and enhance their understanding of the International Studies field. Through scheduled events and community service projects, we hope to foster relationships vital to the academic, personal, and professional success of our members and the community at large.

Hey EVERYONE! In case you haven't heard, CGIS will be moving to Bailey Hall! We should be installed over there by the end of next week and open for business by August 12. In the meantime please excuse our appearance and our communications may be down for a few days during next week. Our new reception will be located in 201 Bailey with staff offices throughout the 2nd floor. We look forward to working closer with our International/Area Studies colleagues at KASC, CEAS, CREES, and LACS!

UPCOMING EVENT: 50 International Fellows from 43 countries

Who: The International Fellows are senior military officers attending the United States Air Force Air University in Alabama. They come from 43 different countries to attend a one-year graduate level course in the United States.
What: This is an open discussion of regionally specific topics and issues. Students, Faculty, Staff, and the general public are encouraged to attend to discuss topics of interest to them or their research.
When: Friday, March 1st, from 4:00-5:00 pm
Where: The Kansas Union
• Africa: Governor’s Room: Officers from the nations of Algeria, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, and Uganda will be located in the Governor’s Room.

• Pacific: Alcove G: Officers from the nations of Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand will be in Alcove G.

• North & South America: Regionalist Room: Officers from the nations of Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Canada, and the United States will be in the Regionalist Room.

• Europe: Pine Room: Officers from the nations of Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom will be in the Pine Room.

• Middle East: Divine Nine Room: Officers from the nations of Israel, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates will be in the Divine Nine Room.

Why: This is a very unique opportunity to discuss your areas of interest with regional experts from across the globe. The Fellows have from 20-30 years of military service and can address most topics related to their country and region.

Free and open all who have an interest
in regional or global affairs.
