Last week, we celebrated our incredible employees with a staff appreciation party. 🎉💙

From KU Bookstore and KU Dining, Human Resources, Building Services teams, and Marketing and Programs, everyone came together to recognize the hard work that keeps Kansas Memorial Unions running.

We were also proud to honor five exceptional employees for their outstanding contributions this year.
Thank you to all of our staff and crew for their dedication to our mission and their effort towards showcasing our values.

Be sure to stop by the KU Bookstore for any last minute needs, grad gifts, or alumni merch. Bookstore hours today are: 8 AM - 2 PM.

Meet Senior Social Media Intern, Spencer Ward! 😁🤳

Spencer joined the marketing team this spring semester and has been a huge part of our social media team! As his time here at KU comes to a close, hear a little about his experience at the Union and how it has impacted his college journey! 💙

"I wanted to get involved for my last semester of college and I saw this job posting online and thought that I would apply to it just to see what would happen. At the same time, I just started a position with @ The Big Event and I was really excited to work on a team that was going to be integrated with another organization and see how they would interact with each other throughout the semester.

I previously had no experience in the social media world at all, but it ties into my marketing major and is something that I now realize that I have interest in post-grad. It's really cool to see how it all works together and how we are one big team, even though everyone is doing different jobs.

The Union has always felt like such a comfortable place for me to be and this past semester it's felt like a second home. I'm really going to miss this job and working with everyone. I've improved a lot in terms of the job, but also in terms of working with people. I think the skills that I've learned here will help project me into the future. I'm so happy to have this experience!"

We are so appreciative to have Spencer a part of our team! His hard work and impact he has made will not be forgotten and we cannot wait to see what the future brings for Spencer! 🫶

Thank you to everyone for supporting the Union through its renovations this semester. The construction crew has been hard at work to make our remodel the best it can be. We're excited to open our doors in August and show off our brand new space to the KU community!

Meet Senior Multimedia Intern, Joe Biundo! 📹✨

Joe joined the marketing team in the summer of 2025 as a videographer. As his time here at KU comes to a close, hear a little bit about his experience at the Union and how it has impacted his college journey! 😁

"The past 10 months at the Union have allowed me to gain a lot of skills, like being more organized and focused on making content for one brand and how to build that brand through video. I've really improved speed wise and i've gotten a lot quicker at what I do because it's something I will need for my future career(s)."

Joe has been influential in creating professional videography for the Union. He's been a huge part of elevating our media content and a valuable addition to our team!

"I've loved the community here and I always looked forward to our social meetings every week and doing stuff for social media. Overall working at the Union has been a really cool experience and when I have been looking at what to do post grad, the Union has been a huge talking point because of how it's helped me improve and I will definitely use the skills that I learned here in the future!"

We're incredibly grateful for everything Joe has brought to our team! His creativity, hard work, and passion have left a lasting impact, and we can't wait to see where his talents take him next! 🫶
