Techstars Startup Weekend is coming to KU.

From Nov 13–15, Techstars and the KU School of Business will host the first-ever Techstars Startup Weekend KU at Capitol Federal Hall.

Over 54 hours, participants will pitch ideas, form teams, validate problems, build prototypes and present ventures to a panel of judges — no prior startup experience required.

This is for students, alumni, faculty, staff, researchers, developers, designers, creatives, marketers and aspiring founders across the KU and Kansas community.

Bring an idea, a skill, a side project or simple curiosity. Leave with collaborators, momentum and a clearer path into entrepreneurship.

Benditt, founder and CEO of Balm Box, recently won Verizon's inaugural Small Business Super Pitch competition, emerging from a field of more than 500 entrepreneurs nationwide.

Her company provides recovery-focused products and resources for cancer patients, combining personal experience with entrepreneurial innovation to address an important need.

New research explores how venture capitalists influence startup innovation.

Kaushik Gala, assistant professor of management and entrepreneurship, examines how investor type shapes co-innovation outcomes. The findings show that partnerships with venture capitalists can lead to different patterns of collaboration and long-term innovation.

Co-authored with Haemin Dennis Park of the University of Texas at Dallas and Michael Howard of Iowa State University, the study takes a closer look at how investor partnerships can shape the way startups work together and grow.
