In 2023, Allen County first responders trained with KFRTI in grain engulfment rescue. In 2025, those first responders saved Joey Berntsen's life. His rescue changed how fire departments across the county prepare for grain emergencies, and KFRTI continues to update its training, including with a new rescue simulator.
