Founded in 1909, the University of Kansas School of Education & Human Sciences educates future teachers, administrators, counselors, psychologists and health and sport professionals. Congratulations to Olivia Palmer, a graduate student in the Higher Education Administration program, on being named a NASPA IV-West Region Graduate Student Rising Star.

Palmer serves as a Sorority and Fraternity Life Graduate Assistant and was recognized for her leadership and involvement in campus activities and organizations. She is invited to accept the award from the NASPA president at the conference in Boulder, Colorado, in October.

The Donvontae Walton MSE Higher Education Student Support Fund, established by KU's 2015 Higher Education Masters Degree Cohort in memory of a graduate remembered for his empathy and his belief in education's power to transform lives.

The fund supports current and future students in the Higher Education MSE program in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.

Once endowed, the fund will give future student affairs professionals the freedom to focus on building the campus communities where students find belonging and support.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Wen-hao Chou, assistant teaching professor of sport management in the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Sciences, on receiving the 2026 Del Shankel Teaching Excellence Award at Kansas Athletics' Rock Chalk Choice Awards.

The award, created by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee in 1996, lets student-athletes recognize a KU faculty member who has made a lasting impact on them. It's a direct reflection of the mark Dr. Chou has had on his students and KU’s sport management program.
