Five faculty members were awarded Research-Intensive Course Grants for fall 2024!
The Research-Intensive Course Grants supports faculty who are redesigning their courses to include a larger research or creative component.
The fall 2024 recipients are:
1. Bogi Perelmutter, Slavic, German & Eurasian studies and Jewish studies, JWSH 330/REL 329 – Mystical Tradition in Judaism
2. Elise Kirk, design (photography), PHTO 400/450 - Photo Media Seminar
3. Stephen Politzer-Ahles, linguistics, LING 420 – Capstone: Research in Language Science
4. Veera Sajjanapu, aerospace engineering, AE 445 – Aircraft Aerodynamics and Performance
5. Yoonjung Ahn, geography and atmospheric science, GEOG 316 – Methods of Analyzing Geographical Data
The Center for Undergraduate Research will open applications for Research-Intensive Course Grants for spring 2024 in August of 2024.

It will be on Tuesday, July 9th, 4:00 – 4:45 p.m. via Zoom.
At this workshop you will learn about how to portray a professional image online. You will also learn more about LinkedIn and how to convey your research experiences online

Come join us for the Abstract Writing & Poster Presentation Basics workshop presented by Jennifer Rupp, Writing Center & Dawn Tallchief, Center for Undergraduate Research & Fellowships.
It will be on Wednesday, June 26th, from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. in 201 Summerfield Hall
Writing an abstract can be a challenging task, especially if you have never done it before. Come to this workshop to learn abstract-writing basics. This workshop will be especially helpful to those who need an abstract to register to present at the Summer Undergraduate Research Poster Session, but it is open to any undergraduates interested in refining their abstract-writing skills.
Join us for a session about the nuts and bolts of putting together a poster presentation. Information will be shared about preparing a YouTube video of your poster elevator pitch which is a required component. A review of the submission form will also be provided.

Congratulations to Kaitlyn Sy and Parnian Arafi who both have been selected as 2024 Courtwright Awards winners.
Kaitlyn Sy is a senior majoring in biotechnology, mentored by Jack Treml and Randall Logan, professors of biotechnology.
Parnian Afari is a junior majoring in biochemistry, mentored by Michael Wolfe, a professor of medical chemistry.
We are extremely proud of Kaitlyn and Parnian and their hard work!
