Arts Administration at Rider was developed in 2010-12 by a professional executive arts administrator with twenty-two years experience in the field leading institutions including the late 1990's turn-around of the Martha Graham Dance Company and School, Elisa Monte Dance Company, A Noise Within classical repertory company in Los Angeles and others. It expanded to incorporate entertainment and title
d Arts & Entertainment Industry Management in 2020 and welcomed another professional of more than 22 years in the music industry to help grow AEIM. As such, the program is specifically tailored to delivering core "real-world" foundational knowledge and skill sets that make AEIM grads uniquely ready for the professional arts workplace. All core requirements directly address key considerations as they relate to the field - from building an arts business, fundraising, marketing and directing outreach activities for arts institutions, to the management of arts venues, producing of arts festivals and networking with top arts executives in New York - Rider prepares students like no other program in the nation. Practicum, pre-professional development and essential internships are also required, thus furthering the Rider Arts Admin grad's preparations for success. Recent internships have included MTV, Sony, Disney, Sesame Street, Boosey & Hawkes, McCarter Theater, Princeton Arts Council, Webster Hall NYC, Warner Music Group, American Ballet Theater, and so many more. Our grads are working in terrific institutions including Atlantic Records, Americans for the Arts, Laguna Playhouse, American Ballet Theater, Sleep No More, Miami City Ballet, Arts Council of Princeton, McCarter Theater, NJPAC, State Theater of NJ and so many more. For a program that only officially launched in 2012, this is an incredible record. Several have continued on to graduate study including NYLaw School, Goldsmiths London, Pratt Institute, American University, NYU, New York Law, and others. The program added an accelerated Masters in Arts Management and Executive Leadership in 2020-21. The degree will advance the extraordinary core knowledge and experience gained in Rider's Arts Administration undergrad degree and create a terrific opportunity for working professionals and those from other degree programs to gain depth of insight, essential executive leadership skills and practical experience that will help propel their careers.
