The students in the Electrical Technology class have learned about the principles of electrical motors. This includes understanding how motors operate, the different types (AC and DC), and methods for their control and protection. Additionally, they have studied the requirements and standards set by the National Electrical Code (NEC) that govern the installation and use of electrical motors.

Students in the Electrical Technology program receive hands-on training in the principles and applications of control circuits. This area of study focuses on how electrical systems are used to control equipment and environments in real-world settings. The training covers key applications, including motor control systems, lighting control systems, and other automated and controlled electrical environments. Students develop an understanding of both the operation and function of various control circuit components that includes relays (electromechanical switches used to control circuits), contacts (conductive elements within switches and relays that open or close circuits), pilot lights (visual indicators used to display system status), limit switches (sensors used to detect position or movement), input devices (such as push buttons, switches, and sensors), and output devices (including motors, lamps, and alarms). Through both theoretical instruction and practical exercises, students learn how these components interact within a control system to safely and efficiently manage electrical operations.

CNA students are learning how to perform a controlled fall. Students are taught the proper application and use of a gait belt to safely stabilize residents during walking or transfers in the event of a fall. It is important for students to stand behind the resident with a wide base for support, grip the gait belt firmly, bend their knees, and slide the resident slowly down their leg toward the floor to ease the fall.
