WesternU Oregon had an amazing group participating in the Lebanon Strawberry Run this morning with more than 100 of the 800 participants being a part of our team. We were even able to snap our group shot with the Strawberry Princesses this year!

At WesternU COMP-Northwest medical students have the opportunity to learn from and teach in community gardens, promoting the connection between nutrition, healthy lifestyles, and overall well-being. Through hands-on experiences, students can share knowledge about the health benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables while learning from community members about gardening, food access, and sustainable practices. These activities foster community engagement, support healthy living, and help future physicians better understand the role of nutrition and environmental factors in health.

From the student perspective, "It's just a nice way to get outside, learn about the growing season in the Pacific Northwest and connect with classmates informally outside of school. A really nice way to decompress outside of class and touch grass."

WesternU COMP-Northwest proudly hosted the 2026 Lebanon Gift of Literacy event today. First graders from a number of local schools joined us this morning for a day of reading. Thanks to the amazing group of community, Lebanon Fire District and WesternU volunteers who shared their joy of reading and more with our hilarious and intelligent first grade guests.
